Behind the Lens: Michigan photographer, Sarah Rypma, Captures the Heart of Agriculture and Food Systems through Photography

Hello.

I'm Sarah Rypma, the photographer behind Harvest Lens and Sarah Rypma Photography. With over a decade of experience in agriculture, food systems, and education, my photography tells the story of Michigan’s local food system.

I specialize in farm-to-table and farm-to-school photography, showcasing fresh, local food and the hardworking people behind it. My journey began on a cherry farm at a young age, where I first learned the value of hard work. Now, I capture that same dedication through my lens and the stories I tell.

I’ve had the privilege of working with the Michigan Department of Education's 10 Cents a Meal program and Taste the Local Difference, which has deepened my passion for showcasing how fresh, local food can transform classrooms and communities.

I believe in the power of storytelling, and how images can reflect the care and dedication behind every meal.

Let’s work together to share your farm-to-table or farm-to-school story. Reach out to start creating images that connect your community to the food they eat.
